Castel Del Monte is situated on the top of an hill in the area of Andria and has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1996. It is probable that it was built to cover a residential function. It might have been an hunting lodge but also a place where to study astronomy and alchemy. From recent studies emerged the use of the castle as a place for arab ritual baths. The octagonal structure, built according to accurate measurements and proportions, testifies also to a passion of Emperor Frederick II to mathematical studies and for geometry.
